The Building Guild was awarded the winner of the 2015 NSW & National MBA Award for ‘Excellence in Housing’ for this project. This stunning architecturally designed South Coast beach house was conceptualised to maximise the magnificent 180 degree views of the ocean.

The Building Guild took on the impossible, commencing our project at the beginning of the winter months, notorious on the South Coast for high winds and inclement coastal weather. They delivered the project in record time and with meticulous planning.

A classic, yet contemporary Hamptons-style design in the New England tradition offers a light filled environment. The interior is adorned with the quintessentially Hamptons-esque feature of Wainscot timber wall panelling which flows through the entire house. Limestone floors throughout the entry and wet areas and rustic tallow-wood flooring are stylishly appointed to provide classical yet sophisticated detailing. The use of custom milled native hardwood was incorporated into the design to ensure longevity and a striking appearance, when viewed from the harsh Eastern coast line.

The engineered Hardwood balcony, king truss and pergola detail at the rear of the dwelling was constructed from Australian Hardwood. All the sections were custom milled to suit our design. The size and weight of the hardwood members required complex handling methods. The outcome is a prestigious house with a timeless and classical design intent. The Building Guild was engaged to consult on the design and construct of this South Coast beach house. It is a fine example of what can be achieved through meticulous planning and exquisite craftsmanship.
