From Here On
“It’s nothing like the huge modern developments surrounding us. It has charm, it has character.”
- Hugh Evans FromHereOn’s CEO
A revived office fit-out has enabled this architecture consultancy to create a spectacular modern office space inside a heritage site.
Consultants FromHereOn wanted to create a new work environment that would represent their philosophy and way of doing business, so commissioned The Building Guild to realise the vision created by Siren Design.
A six-week building program that encompassed plenty of high-spec components including complex joinery, a spectacular bar and restoration of the interior staircase – all completed within a heritage framework.
The new office is located in central Sydney, overlooking Barangaroo. It sits in the top two floors of the original Australian Gas Light property, an iconic 170-year-old-heritage-listed building, cut five storeys high into a sheer sandstone cliff.
Originally constructed in 1847 and located next to the historic Bond building, FromHereOn’s CEO, Hugh Evans, said “the sandstone walls and homestead-like feel presented us with the soulful canvas upon which we could create our new working space”.
FromHereOn wanted their new Sydney ‘Base Camp’ to become the physical manifestation of their vision for a new, more human-centred way of working, according to Evans. “A place where collaborative outcomes are framed by an inspiring space,” he adds.
Located in central Sydney, the new office hosts client co-work projects, community events and houses a back office team. It also is a compelling back-to-base proposition for FromHereOn’s consultants who spend most of their time working on client sites.
