Workplace Fit-out

British Telecom’s striking new national office space based in the hub of North Sydney was a significant step for The Building Guild portfolio due to the nature of the project and the prestige that such a reputable global brand brings. British Telecom engaged Knight Frank Project Management and Building Consultancy to provide project management services, with the construction contract being awarded to The Building Guild. The project was completed over a 10 week period.

The contemporary and luminous offices were designed by Sydney-based Siren Design and in collaboration with British Telecom’s UK global property team to ensure the project met all international design requirements stipulated by the brand’s guidelines.

The resulting 1480m2 space located in North Sydney’s central business district comprises of an entire ground floor with a glazed atrium foyer and strikingly contemporary reception area visible from Berry Street. The fit-out meant demolishing a previous office space and then fitting out the communications room, teleconferencing suites, secure communications, and government-certified secure communications rooms, high-specification joinery and high-specification acoustic offices throughout.

One of the project’s primary challenges was the early handover of the communications rooms and Stage 1 Area to permit British Telecom’s IT team comprehensive and uninterrupted access when undertaking seamless IT systems migration. This early handover meant that the global brand’s IT team was not subjected to the issues linked to accessing and working within a job site.
