Alex Johnson is a widely respected and reputable Managing Director and Project Manager in the Construction industry with formidable technical and interpersonal skills. His 19 years’ experience stem from Project Management positions in a number of Sydney’s leading mid-tier construction companies and have equipped him with a wealth of experience in Commercial fitout and refurbishment projects as well as Residential renovations and extensions. Alex’s ongoing professional relationships with leading architects, designers and project managers are a testament to his character, approach, professionalism and reliability.
Alex has worked in the Real Estate and Building sectors in London and Sydney and has completed two University degrees with the University of Sydney and the University of Technology, the latter gaining Honours in Construction. Alex has also studied and worked in the areas of Human Development and Education providing him with invaluable communication and management skills to lead and support his team and engage at all stages of the projects with his clients.
Alex is a passionate leader, a pragmatic problem solver and a clear communicator. His strong foundation in project commercial strategy coupled with his desire to deliver successful results for his clients have given him a marked ability to engineer bottom-line value prior to on-site work. By guiding Building Guild’s pre-construction team to seek the best-value solutions and following through with the project team to ensure they exceed client expectations Alex has secured a reputation as a principled construction leader in the industry. In 2015 Building Guild was awarded winner of the state and national Master Builders Association (MBA) ‘Excellence in Housing’ Award and Alex and his team continue to work diligently and purposefully towards creating great buildings and leaving a positive legacy in the Australian Construction industry.
Tom Moore has been a Project Manager with Building Guild since 2012 after forging an impressive 10-year career in Construction and Carpentry in London and Sydney. Born and trained in the UK, Tom completed his Honours Degree in Science and studied Carpentry at London’s City & Guilds, a form of training recognized by the Master Builders Association in Australia.
Tom went on to work for numerous building projects in England developing his practical skills and theoretical knowledge in carpentry and as a construction foreman. He was subsequently sponsored to relocate to Sydney to work for a renowned design and architectural firm as a Site Foreman.
Tom’s progression to senior Project Management has included a number of impressive career highlights winning prestigious awards from the Housing Industry Association Award for Best Renovation, the Australian Timber Design Awards for Best Renovation and the Master Builders Association for best residential renovation. And most recently nominated within the 2016 Belle Interior Design Awards for One Hot Yoga project.
Tom’s innate capacity to stay at the forefront of the fast-paced Commercial sector and his decisive and attention-to-detail approach makes him an enormous asset for Building Guild. Tom is renowned for his sound knowledge of construction and his ability to liaise and work harmoniously with clients, project managers, architects and subcontractors.
Building Guild appointed its Advisory Board in January 2014. This independent board providing advice and support to the company consists of property development and construction experts. The ongoing role of the Advisory Board is to guide the directors through the next phase of growth and enhance the efficacy and value of Building Guild and, in turn, its clients.
